Newsflash

"For evil to thrive in this world is for good men not to do anything" - Edmund Burke.

For poverty to thrive in Oas is for good Oasnons not to do anything. There are many good Oasnons around and there are many more good ones. Oas Micro Finance (OMF) is one medium wherein Oasnons can share their most needed help to their fellow Oasnons.

Lessons for Holy Week and the Triumphal Easter:

Then Jesus told Thomas: “Because you have seen me, you have believed; Blessed are those who have not seen, and yet have believed.”

Jesus suffered and died just to redeem us for our sins. He was scourged, spitted upon, crowned with thorns, crucified and died on the cross, but has risen. Only when he saw the nail-wounds on His hands that Thomas believed that Jesus has indeed resurrected. Thomas was ashamed of his unbelief.

OMF On-Site Management underwent a seminar on December 2008. After the seminar, members of OMF On-site were inducted by none other than the mayor of Oas, the HON. Greg Ricarte. At this event, the mayor "promised" that he will work with the Sanguniang Bayan/council to approve a P500,000 package for use by OMF.

The seminar was followed by a little salo-salo compliments of Chad Que, Louella Lapsley and Mel Romano.

The Honorable Members
Sagguniang Bayan
Oas, Albay

Thru: Hon Gregorio Ricarte
Municipal Mayor

Dear Honorable Members:

Wishing You All the best as we get into the new calendar year, 2009 with renewed enthusiasm in the transformation of Oas into a town that we all deserve.

A status quo is not good for our town; it’s what it will become, as it overcomes the obstacles necessary to achieving its short and long-term goals that can give it the deepest and most long-lasting sense of fulfillment and progress.

But when shall we start? There is a time when we must firmly choose the course which we will follow or the endless drift of evetns will make the deicision for us. ANKO Inc – Oas Micro Finance and OPAP (Oas Poverty Alleviation Program) has chosen to take action now, to be a partner in this transformation now.

Quoting OMF Rationale - the reasons that gave birth to the OMF/OPAP:

“ . . .the degree and persistence of poverty in our town, the dearth of economic opportunities, the hunger of Oasnon for a better way of life, the eagerness of caring from those who are in a position to make a difference and our respond to make better the lives of those less fortunate . . . and what better place to start than in our own backyard.”

There are many ways you can help.

You can be a donor, a pledgor or direct involvement in operations/implementation. Although the recipients of this program are all Oasnons, you don't have to be a Oasnon to help humankind. We have modules and packaged programs that an individual or groups can sponsor. Your donations are tax-deductibles if you or your group is domiciled in the United States.

OMF needs on-site and off-site volunteers. if you want to help this way, you are most welcome to contact the Webmaster, Biep Romano, Greg Conde or Melvin Romano.
